Statement of Faith for Courageous Counseling
As a non-denominational Christian therapy practice, we affirm the foundational truths of the Christian faith as expressed in the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Evangelical Statement of Faith. These documents serve as a guide for our beliefs, shaping our approach to faith-based care and counseling. Rooted in the truth of Scripture and guided by the love and grace of God, we declare the following core tenets of the Christian faith:
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God, serving as the foundation for faith, life, and counseling. It is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
The Triune God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is sovereign, loving, and holy, and desires a personal relationship with all people (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, fully divine and fully human. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for the forgiveness of sins, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended to heaven, where He intercedes for us. He will return in glory to judge the living and the dead (John 1:1-14; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 1:9-11).
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit indwells believers, empowering them to live a holy life, bear spiritual fruit, and fulfill God's purposes through their unique gifts and talents (Galatians 5:22-23; John 14:26; Romans 8:11).
Salvation
We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. All have sinned and fall short of God's glory, but through Christ’s atoning sacrifice, believers are justified, reconciled to God, and assured eternal life (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:23-24; John 3:16).
The Church
We believe in the universal Church, the body of Christ, made up of all believers across time and space. We affirm the importance of fellowship, worship, and service as expressions of faith and as means of building God’s kingdom (1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Hebrews 10:24-25).
Humanity and Purpose
We believe every person is created in the image of God, with inherent dignity, value, and purpose. We are called to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Genesis 1:26-27; Matthew 22:37-39).
Prayer and Healing
We believe in the power of prayer and the presence of God as a source of healing, peace, and transformation in every area of life. God invites us to bring our burdens to Him, trusting in His goodness and sovereignty (Philippians 4:6-7; James 5:16).
Marriage and Family
We believe in the sacred design of marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman, and in the family as a vital part of God’s plan for nurturing faith and relationships (Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:22-33).
Mission and Restoration
We believe in the Great Commission: to share the good news of Jesus Christ, making disciples of all nations. As followers of Christ, we are called to pursue justice, serve others, and bring restoration to a broken world (Matthew 28:19-20; Micah 6:8).
This Statement of Faith guides our practice in offering compassionate, Biblically-grounded, evidence-based therapy that honors God and serves our clients’ holistic needs. While we welcome and respect individuals of all beliefs, our commitment is to provide care rooted in the truth and love of Christ.
